Video Ideas!

I have been looking at different video's in depth, however by an accident i stumbled across this video the other day, all though the music is not the same genre as the band which i am producing a music video for, i still believe that the video itself and the ideas behind it will work well with the music i have chosen.

  1. I quite like the concept behind the video, although you could do with explaining in more detail why it's an appropriate idea for your band. You need to link this into genre and narrative, as well as audience. I also think that it will be incredibly complex to shoot/ edit (there are at least 200 edits, I would guess). But the concept is interesting. I've posted a video on my blog (Dirty Little Secret by All American Rejects) which, whilst not the same, might give you an idea.

Although I appreciate you've had problems with your blog, you need to up the work rate, and the level of detail, in order to make sure that you are meeting the appropriate standard. Crucially, I need to see a lot more planning for the video - remember, you should begin shooting next week. You should be uploading storyboards, schedules, location reports, shotlists etc. Without this, your blog will never get beyond L2.

You also need to go into a lot more detail when analysing your research. You need to clearly link to key concepts (audience, narrative, genre) and explain how the work you are looking at fits into your developing understanding of music promotion. You also need to consider the technical aspects (for example, how would you got about making a video like the one above? What would your storyline be? How would you shoot it? How would it fit in with the song? How would you link it to the print concept?)

If you have relevant stuff on your other blog(s), you need to link to this also. Otherwise it will be impossible to mark.

At the moment, you are somewhere in L2. You need to do a lot more, particularly at home (like I am at the moment) if you can't get things to work at school.
